I came home from Japanese school. Even though I told people I was going to watch Genshiken, I watched Gantz ~the second stage~ 15-16 (or 2-3, for the second season). I should explain my background with Gantz. I watched the entire ~the first stage~ TV broadcast way back when it was still unlicensed. The original TV broadcast was only 11 episodes. ~the second stage~ started at episode 14. Yes, two whole episodes were cut from the original TV broadcast of ~the first stage~. Anyone who's seen the TV broadcast can tell you the narrative for ~the first stage~ was more than a little jumpy. My overall opinion was 'WTF?! O_o'. I hated the main character and main girl, the monsters looked extremely stupid, but I loved how fucked up it was. Sex was implied, rape was implied, violence was toned down, and I...liked it like that. I didn't know it at the time, but I liked my Gantz edited.
Now, I know ADV is running around screaming 'GANTZ ON DVD IS UNCUT AND WAS TOO HOT FOR JAPANESE TV!! (The edited TV version would NEVER get approval from the FCC, but we're not going to mention THAT...).' However, little does ADV forget/not mention is that Gantz ~the second stage~ played on Japanese TV uncut. Oh, it sure did. Now, episode 14 started off well. My favourite character, Katou, finally moved him and his little brother out of his aunt's abusive house & Kishimoto left Kei. I screamed when Katou's aunt slapped his little brother. I outsmarted the episode, because the punk guy was always getting milk for his baby (because his wife's breasts didn't give milk), but babies don't drink milk. You make them formula, because milk doesn't have the needed calcium for little babies like the one he had. And I nearly cried when he died.
But, this isn't about episode 14, which made me fall in love with Gantz all over again. I was like 'Yes! Gantz rules! It's the best uncut!' This is about 15-16. The episodes that made me question Gantz's integrity. These two episodes were really H. How about actual HENTAI? That's right, these episodes were pornographic. Now, call me innocent, but I missed the whole implication that Kishimoto and Kei were sleeping together! Sure, they were living in the same house, and there was insane sexual tension, but I didn't think they really got it on! But, they did, as I learned in a flashback. At first, I thought it was a dream, but then I realized no, it wasn't. It was a flashback. They had sex. Oh well, I hated those two. They deserved each other. I don't care. Katou was still doing well. Then Gantz summoned them all to the room, where I saw my favourite character from the first season, Ms. Sakurazawa (or whatever the bloody hell her name is)! She was only in ~the first stage~ for a minute, but she left such a cool impression on me, I knew she'd be getting summoned soon. She did, and I thought, "she's so cool". Then she fucked Kei. Kei asked her randomly, and at first she was like "WTF no!" I was too happy, but I had a feeling. A feeling that was proven correct when she asked him 'Where can we do it?' two seconds later. Why honey, why? He's ugly, he's annoying, and HE'S KEI. If anybody should be getting any, it's Katou. Okay, Kei's hotter, but his personality honey, his personality. He's a whiny bitch...no, he doesn't even deserve the title 'bitch'. When they got it on, it sounded really nasty. (Shivers). No BGM to cover it up or anything. I thought episode 15 would be the last of them getting it on, but no, of course not. Episode 16 began with them having sex in the tunnel Kei was killed in. Yep, I dunno WTF the point of that was either, considering how they were having sex in the Gantz apartment! Other than that, 16 was basically the standard 'we don't believe his shit' deal from the newbies, and Katou trying to get them together. Annoying Kishimoto was trying to backup Katou, but being Kishimoto, it didn't work. I wonder if Katou ever got any? I don't think so, but that was all I could think whenever I saw him. At the end of these two episodes, I had a headache. I think two episodes a disc is a good idea.
I played The Sims for about two hours. Fun stuff. Needed to get my mind off H.
Because it was on, I watched the Chinese movie they always play on the multi-cultural station every Saturday at 9. Today it was Super Model. It was basically Zoolander, but throw in the typical Chinese love story elements, no matter how gay the main male character acts. My god, I'm sure some people may be offened by this. The main character, MANDOM (That's right, MANDOM, all caps according to the subs), is always putting on makeup and doing other 'typically gay' things, but then he goes for Karena (the main girl). Maybe the movie was trying to say that it's not gay for guys to wear makeup. But honestly, I don't think it's that deep. However it was a fun, if not dull, romp through the world of teen-oriented Chinese cinema. I'm sure many critics think all Chinese movies are epic Martial-arts style. This movie would make them cringe. Now me, I love Chinese movies. I didn't like this one though. It had its moments. I liked 'MANDOM's posse', MANDOM, Freedom and Condom. (The three 'doms', get it?). Yep, his name was Condom. He owned. And the scenes at Karena's village were just too much. I'm never going to be able to think of eating dog meat the same way again... But the story was almost exactly like Zoolander. Well, of course there were some differences, but the scene where MANDOM and Fantasy had a 'Catwalk-off' was Zoolander déjà vu. It barely kept me interested. If I paid to see it, I'd want my money back. Since I didn't, I'm not going to complain too much. It wasn't awful. Just not very good either. These characters deserve a better movie. One where the Dom posse could honestly be as gay as they really are. I'd pay to see that.
Because it was on next, I watched Ebert and Roeper. Hide and Seek doesn't look as bad now, but I still wouldn't pay to see it. Ebert WAS NOT being a cheeseball when he mentioned 'There may be life on the moon of Jupiter', no matter what Roeper says. | comments: Leave a comment |

At midnight-ish, I finally, and I mean FINALLY saw Gackt's new PV - Arittake no Ai de. Fucking awesome. I was about to cut off Gackt's balls (and keep them for myself lol) if he released one more slow ballad type song, but he made me happy. 'Arittake no Ai de' is the poppiest thing I've heard out of Gackt in a while, and certainly the poppiest thing out of him ever. Period. Gackt owns. I love this song. Oh, but the PV also owned. I wouldn't have noticed the iPod reference if I hadn't read about it in multiple (yes, multiple) LJ's. because I dunno what an iPod looks like. Ah, this was even better than the screenshots led me to believe. I loved it when that Gackt wannabe was lip syncing along with the words. Goddess, I have to learn my kanji so I can read what was going on. I mean, I got the jist of it, and understood they were just sayingt he lyrics most of the time, but still. There was something clever, when...I kinda forget, but one of the wedding guests names was 'Kareshi' and then the next time we saw him 'shi' was crossed out to make him 'KareC'. And, according to my shitty translations, 'Kareshi' is 'Boyfriend'. So, I took that as 'Boyfriend C'. So...yeah, it was funny. To me, even though I only half got/probably misunderstood the joke. A ha ha. I have to find a HQ version. And watchi it agin, so I can see if I correctly remembered the 'Kareshi' joke, and to see if those two people at the funeral were the two who got married. And what that whole funeral was about too O_O. And find out what 'Arittake' means. Because once I get 'Arittake', I will know the whole title! W00t my 1337 nihongo skills yo. I got 'no ai de'!!
(Dull Anecdote Time!) After going to sleep (of course), I woke up and poked around the Internet. Then, friend Jennifer and I went to go see a movie. If you've been to the theatre around this time, you'll know there is NOTHING playing. Unless you live in a big city, then you've probably got Appleseed and/or Wonderful Days...um, I mean 'Sky Blue'. A horrible rename, but whatever. It's still Wonderful Days, and I'm still jealous (unless it was dubbed...in that case...I'm still jealous, because it's Korean animation on the big screen, but for chrissakes, it's dubbed XD). I live in Canada's capital, and all I had was the friggin Incredibles. That's what we were going to see, but being the Roger Ebert worshipper I am, he said that Million Dollar Baby was the year's best movie. And for the past four years, his best movies have all started with the letter M (which may or may not be the first letter of my real name). So, I drug poor Jenny to see Million Dollar Baby. Probably not a wise choice for two 16 year old girls, one of whom is very flighty & spacy and the other of which is a serious film critic, who will most likely bitch the ear off the flighty girl for taking her to a shitty movie. Oh ho, I just gave away who was flighty, didn't I?
Because we got there a little early for the movie, we played video games on broken machines. I owned Street Fighter, but the joystick was broken and I couldn’t make it go down to pick Sakura! Damn, I was some ugly rich snotty girl. She wouldn't stop jumping, and always ran to the left side of the screen. But I still beat Jenn. Eheheheh... Then we played Tekken 4, and daaaamn that was intense. There's only one round, and the graphics are so raburii and (sigh) if it was a man, I'd hit on it. No, it'd be my lover. Lucky Tekken 4, huh? I won, so Jenn and I took turns on the other rounds. We made it to the last round, and sexxy Jin got beat by and unsexy robot! Grrr~ nande? Sexiness always wins! Maa, well the we played Virtua Fighter...whatever number I always play. I force Jenn to spend 2$ on this bloody game because you have tobuy special tokens and you can only buy them with 1 or 2 dollar coins. I did the same,. The game says it takes two tokens, so Jenn outs int wo tokens. I notice that there is one credit on the machine. So, I put in my two tokens, and three credits appear. Then, I remember. Having played on the Virtua Fighter machines around here before, I remember they only take one token. So, I try to explain this to Jenn, but whenever I speak, I always speak in half sentences/illogical English, so I couldn’t explain properly. aI CAAaN tAIpE wellLLl tHo RIGHT? So, we get to playing, and guess what? These joysticks are busted too. My girl always walks to the left too. She never stops walking. I totally could've-- A ha, so fight one. I'm Pai. Jenn's Aoi, my former girl. Pai wins. Na no da. Fight Two. I'm Pai. Jenn's Sarah. Pai wins. Na no da. Now, Jenn's still looking for a girl, but she doesn't like the way Vanessa looks, so she says she wants to be the old man. Her joystick is busted too, so it goes to - Akira. The main character who wishes he was Ryu from Street Fighter. So, Round one Pai...loses? No, tis impossible. I fight for my life, and come back in round two though. Final round. I..lose. Pai's reign as champion is over. Since there are no more credits (and I ignore the six tokens in my pocket), I resign gracefully. I don't take turns with Jenn this time, because I'm so proud of her for actually defeating Pai and I! So, We decided it was about time to go, but Jenn was still playing, so I asked if I could take over for her against Kagemaru. I did, and I suck at controlling Akira and...I lost! I lost again! I gave it back to Jenn, and she won the next round...and lost the next! Oh, if only I wasn't selfish and took it form her! She would've had another chance and could've defeated Kagemaru! Ah, the eternal humiliation! (End Dull Anecdote Time!)
So, after getting the Devil Burrito (...that'd be more of a blurty thing. It's not related to viewing.) We went into the theater. Now, the only boxing experience I have is with Ippo. And event then, I don't know very much yo. The first half moved along nicely, if not slowly. I didn't know who was doing the narration! I thought it was Clint Eastwood, then I realized it was the old guy at the gym, than I thought it was Eastwood agin. Ah, I've been relying too much on color-coded subs these days... >_<. So, the fights started happening. Very intense! The nastiest thing was when Maggie broke her nose in the ring and Eastwood had to fix it. I have a huge nose, so anything relating to injuring the nose is a big no-no for me. Then, I thought the movie was going to end with the big championship fight. I don't want to say anything that will ruin the movie for anyone. But I left the theater with mixed feelings. I mean, I really don't think it's the best movie I've seen in a while (Tokyo Godfathers anyone? My god, I'm obsessed with that fucking (excellent!!!) movie >_<). I felt it was your average Hollywood attempt at emotional manipulation. Oh, that doesn’t mean it's bad per say, just that's it's too contrived and...well, Hollywood-esque. Not Barara's style. I was tearing up though. You know actually, thinking back to some quiet scenes between the two leads makes me happy. And the final scenes are nice. But there's just something about it...kya I dunno. I can't remember what I was bitching about before. I left the theatre kind of mixed, but when I think back to certain scenes I'm all like 'ahhh *sniff*'. Ah ha. I think I have it. There wasn't much to the movie other than their story. And at times, their story fell completely flat. Don't get me wrong. I love storytelling. However, I like GOOD storytelling. And it was good - most of the time. There was an especially effective scene with Maggie's family (the last scene with them). I was seriously antsy in my seat. Jenn probably thought I had to pee. Ha, anyway, my final word is recommend, but don't go in expecting the best movie of the year. I think that's why I have reservations. I expected too much, and that is why I'm hesitant on it. Just watch it expecting a good story. You won't be disappointed. However, since I watch Ebert and Roeper religiously, I do not know why Roeper said 'You want to get up and cheer for what happens to these people' when referring to Million Dollar Baby. Maybe he was talking about Hotel Rwanda. I didn’t really wanna cheer for the characters of Million Dollar Baby. O_O
After shopping for an hour and riding a bus for two, I got to my dad's house. He had the new Newtype USA. Y'know, I'd like it better if he bought anime DVDs or manga. Ha, I have lots of DVDs I should get to...I absolutely hate all the original US features NTUSA puts in. They had a Valentines Day feature and they were pairing up...Chrno and Rosette. Baka-tachi yo. Sure, they also had Shuichi and Yuki paired up, at least there's some taste there, but my father reads this. Sure, he probably already knows Gravitation is about gay guys getting' it on. Sure he knows it's my favourite anime ever. But you don't need to write in big blazing letters 'Just The Guys'. It's an excuse for him to confront me about it. Um, but I loved the Saiyuki Reload feature. Saiyuki was nice and all, but Reload made it cool. Mai Nakahara ownz too. I actually read most of this, since I didn't want my dad to see the Gravi stuff.
My dad went to tuck my brothe rin, so I put NTUSA aside, and watched the first skit on MAD TV. Finally, someone else poking fun at Jesus freaks! Bibledude is my new hero! It was funny. I actually asked my sister if 'Hilary Duff Live at Epcot Center' was a real CD. She said no. Oh well, not like I'd listen to it anyway...seriously! Beni Arashiro is my teen idol! For Real! I watched the first half of another, but I had Japanese school so I went to sleep. Now you know my day. Aren't you lucky? | comments: Leave a comment |

(**THIS ENTRY CONTAINS MASSIVE SPOILERS FOR WEISS KREUZ GLUHEN. CONSIDER YOURSELF WARNED**)
I woke up, and wanted to watch Maury. However, it was about boring deformed children (plus I already saw it), so I watched BPM TV, and they were having the top 20 countdown of 2004. Now, I don't pay attention to Dance music at all, but whenever I want some background music, and I don't have my computer, I turn to the Dance music Galaxie channel (a channel that only plays music). So, I watched the whole top 20 count down. Well, more or less. I got up to eat lunch, and was flipping around the channels to see if anything else was on. My gosh, a lot of the dance videos have scantily clad women in them. There was this Greek one and oh my goddess, it was really scantily clad. And one by Paul Oakenfold (Yes, I have heard of him, I don't live under that much of a rock) had a girl, and the video kept flashing up her skirt. I wouldn't have cared that much, but I was watching the Oakenfold one with my mother. She left for the rest, but still. I don't want mother to get the wrong impression (she already thinks I'm a lesbian after all...which I am not, but why bother correcting her?) However, there was a video on the charts at #20, 'Poison' by Groove Coverage, and it was helluva sweet. I would've voted for that to be #1. I missed the beginning of it though. I wanna download it. The #1 video was a typical story, but it was a lot nicer then some of the videos. And there was this really weird one that I missed the beginning to, but it had people stripping for no reason. But it wasn't ecchi. They were like in an institution, and whenever...I dunno, they just randomly took off their nightgown thing, and walked around in their underwear. Odd indeed O_o.
Finally, FINALLY, I got to watch episode one of Sukinamono wa Suki Dakara Shouganai (aka Sukisyo)!!!!!!! I've been a fan of the games for two years now (Not kidding), so I was over ecstatic when I heard of an anime production. I downloaded it a while ago, but in case anything like 'that' happened, I didn't want anyone else to see, and I wanted to enjoy the happy ecchi moment alone. Finally, I was alone for 25 minutes, so I watched it. What a 25-minutes it was. Some of the best in my life. My god, it is perfect!! Entirely male cast, entirely SEXY male cast, yaoi vibes left and right, ACTUAL YAOI, this show is what yaoi fangirls/boys have been waiting all their lives for, what 'traditional' harem fanboys/girls have been dreading, and what anime otaku have been waiting an eternity to happen. Finally, after so many 'based off the bishoujo game', we finally get a 'based off the BL game'! This is revolutionary! I can only hope more of the same happens. Oh, but the actual episode was fucking awesome. In the first minute, we had a boy hopping on another boy. And it seems there's a helluva interesting story going on. I think people who know nothing of the world of Sukisyo might be confused with all the body switching going on. But I already know that part, so I'm not lost. When Sora turned into Yoru, it was the most wonderful thing ever. Yoru's seiyuu is the seme of the millennium, I swear. His voice just sounded like he wanted to throw down Ran. Because he did, but just OMG. Made me weak in the knees, and I usually like the ukes better. But daaaaaaaamn, Yoru is helluva fine. He's like the new Gackt - everyone wants to be screwed by him.
Then, after cleaning my room for god knows how many hours, I found Weiss Kreuz Gluhen. Thank god. I was cheering. I watched the last episode, 13, just like I needed to. Now, I didn't really know what they needed to do in episode 13, because the main story was already cleared. Now I know. ( SPOILERS UNDER THE CUT (+ I also watched the Apprentice! Damn, I can't figure out how to put writing AFTER the cut >_< ) | comments: Leave a comment |

I had my media studies exam today. It was pretty easy. My next one (and final one) is on Monday. I started to watch Dr. Phil, because he said all of the brides on his show had a 'terrible secret'. Now, being hooked on Maury, 'terrible secret' is 'I've been cheating on you, and you're child may not be ours'. Now, Dr.Phil style secret was 'I don't like it when you hid the finances from me'. So, I stopped watching. Goddamn Dr.Phil is Boring with a capital B without the families. He should just bring back that psycho Mormon woman. I'd watch religiously, that's for sure.
So, I played DDR Extreme again. I'm getting better, but not good enough for the Standard ranks, that's for sure. Another thing that could be holding me back is that my mat slides on my carpet. It sucks. I'd own if my mat would stay in one place. I need duct tape.
American Idol was on again tonight. I like how it's on twice a week during the auditions. It's nice. One of the crappy wannabe Boyz 2 Men twins was back, and he got through. Take that Simon. No one as funny as the high guy though. But I missed the last 15 minutes because I was supposed to be baby-sitting, so I was making my little sisters clean up. That psychic lady looked as if she had potential to be hilarious.
As well, I watched the Simple Life 3 - Interns. The Simple life is really going downhill from season one. Season One was funny. This is kind of upsetting. These are real jobs, and the girls just mess them up on purpose. I know it's on purpose, because Paris on Letterman said that she's acting. I wouldn't doubt it. She's not a good actress at all, so I can tell. Whenever she's at one of the jobs, there's something fake about her working ethic. Lemme run down a typical scene for you:
Paris and Nicole arrive over an hour late for work. The owner is kinda pissed, but gives them a really simple job to do. Paris "honestly" (read - poorly acts) tries her best, but after five minutes, Nicole suggests that they do something to mess it up. They do that, then the owner comes in and yells at them, and places them on another job. They usually end up destroying something, and get yelled at more. Then they get paid a minimum amount. The End.
The second episode, the one at the office wasn't that bad, because the main owners realized that they were gonna mess up on purpose, so the got really cushy secretary types jobs. However, when they were doing real work under the management of the stiff bitch in charge of the department, they messed up. However, it was pretty amusing, because that bitch was well, a bitch, so she deserved to be annoyed. Still, not as good as the first season. That one rocked. | comments: Leave a comment |

I had my English exam today. When I came home, I watched half of a Maury update show. It's nice to see that drag queen is still doing it and doing it and doing it well.
On tokyotosho.com, I saw that the Fushigi Yugi Bus Trips (Chibi lil omake that came w/ the first OAV) were up for download, so I watched those. I've seen only the first episode of FY (dubbed and crappy picture quality), and read a bit of the manga, so I was kind of lost in some parts. I never did get to see most of the Seiryu people other than the twins and Nagako. I really do want to see FY. It looks 10 00X better than the current TV anime Harukanaru Toki no Naka De. (Even if they were on Mr.Heartbreakers chart for a week >_<). Okay, I've only seen half of the second episode of the Harukanaru TV anime. I'd bet I'd like it if I started from the beginning. I do have a large weakness for bishonen after all. Back on track, it was cute how they sometimes called the characters by their seiyuu's name. Not to mention the whole idea of having the male cast dress like women to get into the onsen. Pure classic. It seems like the producers wanted the first FY OAVs to be the last. How wrong they were. If it has sale potential in America, it will be made.
Because I was upstairs, I watched American Idol. Fucking hilarious. There was this guy, who was clearly on one mind-altering drug or another, and he was just hilarious. He was rapping about Jesus (...?) and speaking in half sentences and all that good stuff. His leg was so skinny that it was freaky. O_O I wanna be skinny, but not THAT skinny. Too much drugs, and not enough food, that's for sure ^^;;
After was The Amazing Race, so I watched half of that I think. I was pissed I missed Jonathan and his Wife get booted out. Oh Well. Maybe I watched all of this. (It's the 28th now...) I can vaguely remember Hayden and her b/f having to hand over all their money since it was a non-elimination round, as usual. My, I really cannot remember all this disposable reality TV can I? | comments: Leave a comment |
| In Media Studies we watched the first Austin Powers because there was like five people in class. Austin Powers is funny. Ecchi, but funny. They had the Italian girl pretending she was Japanese in one scene. Yep. I dunno WTF that was either. But, ignoring that part, Austin Powers is indeed funny. I don't like watching sex scenes with a teacher though, even if it is my favourite teacher. Who's only like 26, but still...teachers. Sex. Do not mix in same sentence. Unless we're talking OneTei. Or that hot yaoi title...'Passion' or 'Desire'. I mix the two up. ^^;; But, mix my teachers and sex in the same sentence and well, that's just wrong.
After pointlessly going to school, I came home. Yes I did. And I watched...nothing! I had an exam the next day, so I went on my computer and wrote in blurty--I mean studied. That's it. | comments: Leave a comment |
| Being the excellent procrastinator I am, I watched so much crappy TV today, I cannot possibly remember it all. First up was Hollywood Crime Scenes. Now, call me ignorant, but I didn't know Marilyn Monroe was in Playboy. Thomas Noguchi, a corpse examinator was in both the John Belushi story I watched and the Monore one. They must have just asked him all the celebrities he inspected, and went down the list.
I then watched the tail end of Foreign Flo on the BPM. I saw the last half of a video, and the first half of another, because I was trying to work on my homework for the last half of the second one. The second one was pretty trance like, so I stopped watching, since it didn't catch my interest/I had homework. I kind of regret not watching the last half of it though...I do like trance music... (It was Diablo by The Grid...if anyone knows them...) The first one was pretty interesting though. There was a horse going through this guy's room. I cannot remember what it was called though. I wonder if they play Japanese PVs...?
Then, on MTV they had Electronic Playground. It was amusing that they had this English guy interviewing the Japanese speaking producer of Contra, and no translator present. I guess the producer knew English, but couldn't speak it. They dubbed over his voice, and I hate it when they do that. Jesus, people CAN read, y'know. An amusing bit of dialogue Interviewer - So, in Neo Contra, there was this Ninja guy I saw running around...(asks question) Producer - (answers question) and actually, it's a Samurai. Ha, I laughed. The interviewer also did really stupid shit, like running on the spot when saying running. It certainly wasn't an interview you see everyday. I also saw a preview for Mario Tennis, and it looks like it takes some time to learn how to play. But I think once you play it, you get it. Another dialogue clippit of interest (when they were talking about a crappy looking game called Battlefield 2): Interviewer - So, Battlefield 2 is actually the third in the series, the first being Battlefield, and the second being Battlefield Vietnam. Why isn't this Battlefield 3? Producer Guy - It's a sequel to Battlefield. Interviewer - Okay...(asks another question) I found it amusing how he barely answered her question. And how he can't count. I mean, I get it, but it's kind of stupid. He should have just made it Battlefield 3.
I poked around my computer for a bit, but I had to watch Arrested Development. I think I missed the beginning. Since I missed the beginning, I wasn't really sure what was going on with Maibe. The whole thing with Tobias is pretty funny though. I like how he's always doing gau stuff, but he doesn't realize it.
My gosh, I hope to never watch this much boring TV again. >_ | comments: Leave a comment |
| | I was working (on homework!) most of today. Being the good worker that I was, I decide to treat myself to some Beck
5-6. I really thought I was farther along, but I guess I'm not. Also, I
haven't watched this show for awhile, so I was lost. I forgot nearly
everything that had happened up until this point! But I would remember
things as the show went along. But something I completely forgot was
that Ryusuke told Koyuki he wasn't his friend any longer. So when
Koyuki said 'I'm not Ryusuke's friend anymore' I was like 'Whaaaaat?"
In any case, these were two excellent episodes. The 'Full Moon Sway'
scene in episode 5 is one of the most beautiful scenes I've seen in
awhile. Maybe Koyuki's voice was a tad overpowering, but really, I
thought it was just a sexy-cool-awesome-beautiful scene. I CANNOT WAIT
for the Beck OST to come out. If it already is out, then someone tell
me where to download. I don't have a job anymore. I can't buy it! Oh,
I'm also liking/hating Momoko-sensei. She's gonna be one of those
annoying charcters, who in real life you would avoid, but for now she's
pretty funny. I don't know if she's using her sex appeal on purpose or
not though. :/ | comments: Leave a comment |
| I watched the last of the Genshiken episodes I have, episode 8. Today Tanaka was running a 'Gungal' (Gundam) Plamo (short for Plastic Model) workshop. There were a lot of Gundam in-jokes, and I don't follow Gundam, so I felt a little lost, even with the handy translator's note. This one was pretty funny. I think I laughed twice, first when Tanaka was explaining the difference between Toys and Plamos, and again when a 'foreign object' got on Sasahara's Jimmy (the name of the plamo he was building, not anything else!). It was also pretty funny when I think it was Madarame who said 'Ohno's tears represent the seven stages of Plamo building!' when Saki broke Kanako's Plamo. Saki is hanging out with the Genshiken crew even when her boyfriend isn't there. Her boyfriend is a cutie though. What was his name again? I'm having a serious memory lapse... Oh, and I read on animesuki that Genshiken was going to be 24 episodes, with three of them being Kujiban episodes, but today on animenfo, it said there would only be 12! Nande! I want to know what's going on! I was under the impression that episode 3 was going to be Kujiban!
I also watched the Apprentice again with my mother on the tape I taped for her. The tape had an annoying buzz in the background, but what could I do about it. It was actually really annoying to listen to, and I ended up zoning out a lot of the time. However, I just can't get over that hippie's marketing plan. Like my sister said, if I saw him in front of MY Burger King, I'd turn around and go across the street to another one.
Not directly related to viewing, but I finished another chapter of My Partner. Bonzai! I haven't uploaded it yet though...this chapter is really straight, and I'm almost proud of myself for having it turn out that way. I find it insanely funny for me writing as a straight man in first person.
'I have a yearning for pussy right now'
Is one of the many straight man-isms I had to type. At least he's acting straight now though. There's gonna be some real conflict soon~. (getting excited thinking about it) | comments: 5 comments or Leave a comment |

Still in a depression, I stayed home today. I played DDR for two hours. I’m getting okay at standard mode, and my legs feel pretty strong. I like the two/three Naoki songs I unlocked (B4U (B4 Za Beat Mix) being challenge only, so I can't do it...well, not any higher than an E that is -_-;; ). 'Can't Stop Fallin' In Love (Speed Mix)' burns at least 15 calories each time I play it on light mode, so I love it. It's in my 'Players Best' on Non-stop mode, but Non-stop automatically has it on standard, and I can't do it standard mode well. Oh, I did a lot of Non-stop runs. I like it on Workout mode, because if your bar starts flashing red, then it doesn't matter because it still lets you finish. It's almost like cheating, because in your information box, you're still sent a 'Congratulations on completing Players Best non-stop course', even though I got an E. Oh, setting it on workout mode also lets you complete normal songs, even if you fail miserably.
Even though I cannot remember doing it today, I must've watched Genshiken 7 either today or yesterday, because I know that two new members came, and they had a drinking party. One of the new members was a 'ladies man', and the other was a hyper fanboy, who had the worst character design ever. He stuck out like a parrot feather on a seagull. I didn't realize it at the time, but Kujiki (or whatever the hyper fanboy's was) was voiced by Akira Ishida (Chrno from Chrno Crusade), so I got to hear a drunk Chrno sing 'Kujibiki Unbalance'. And that was the highlight of the episode for me. I started laughing psychotically when Kujiki was in the Genshiken room, and he said 'Poo-nyo'. That was too much. I used to talk like that, and just...'Poo-nyo'. Classic.
The Apprentice 3 started, and I love the Apprentice, so my mother wanted me to tape it for her. SO, I used that excuse to watch it too. They were working at Burger king (Pain of losing Mcdonalds job stabs heart) I-I used to work at a hamburger restaurant...you can imagine my feelings, ne? I was kinda working though, so I was mostly listening. A ha. | comments: Leave a comment |
| I got fired today. Being in a depression, I watched American Idol twice. The first time, I missed the first 10 minutes, the second time I saw it all. I can remember this one well. Those triplets needed to be told they were fat. If you don't got it, don't flaunt it. No one wants to see your flab in skintight spandex, honey. I don't know what to think of that short Mickey Mouse girl. I liked her entering rap, but her actual audition song was blah. And those two friends were hi-lar-i-ous. Mother was laughing when he said that David Hasslehoff was a good singer. I don't know David Hasslehoff at all, but Mother told me that David Hasslehoff is a TERRIBLE singer. I would believe it ^^;;. And that guy who's family thought he sounded like Brian Mcknight was funny too. If Brian Mcknight sounds like that, then...I'm never listening to Brian Mcknight. Oh, and Gene Simmons is guest judging next week. Make that Richard Simmons, and we'd have a show.
Well, still being in a depression, I played DDR Extreme. I love that game. Lots of fun. I did lots of missions. I suck at the higher numbers though.
I watched Mahou Tsukai ni Taisetsuna Koto (Someday's Dreamers/The Things Important to a Mage/Yume-Mahou) 9. It made me upset that Yume was an apprentice mage, and I'm a fired McDonalds employee. It was a good episode though. We're approaching the end, aren't we? I like how the crew has done a good job of stretching this 2-volume manga into a 12 episode series. Although, it is possible the manga came second, as in my scanlations (OF WHICH I AM MISSING THE LAST TWO CHAPTERS (That are listed as epilogue chapters, but really tell the ending of the story!) BLARGH! I want to know how it ends!) there are character designs for the anime. Oh well, I like most of the interpretations of the anime version (except in episode four where they added in that girl, where in the manga it was just the two boys. Than wasn't necessary, unless she was the girl in episode five who needed help...? I can't remember if they were same girl ^^;; ) This is an excellent show in every respect however.
So, to watch a show where NOBODY is employed, I turned on Genshiken 6. Saki played Puyo Puyo! I never have, so I'm jealous. Sasahara's Gal sister showed up, and like Madarame said 'I can't believe you two grew up in the same house'. I can't remember if it's this episode or the next where Madarame gets named Genshiken chairman (Like I said, I was in a depression). Either way, he shows a 180-degree difference in personality when he gets named chairman. He actually tries to act nice towards Saki, and (tries to) include her in things! This was a pretty nice episode actually, if it was not the most memorable. I can't really remember when I laughed uncontrollably though. Oh well. Next time. | comments: Leave a comment |

American Idol started today~ I watched some of it. I cannot remember it very well at all honestly. Oh, that crazy Mary girl was, well, crazy. She actually admitted to having voices in her head. And I don't like it when guest judges come on. Fuck you Mark McGrath. Go back to Sugar Ray, and get off my show!
And I missed the Biggest Loser real finale. Shit, I'm pisssed. Just one more~~ Kind of like how I lost my Weiss Kreuz Gluhen CD, and I only needed to watch the last episode (IF YOU HAVE WK GLUHEN 13, CONTACT ME!!!! WE CAN WORK OUT SOME KIND OF DEAL OR SOMETHING BECAUSE I NEEEEEED MY WK GLUHEN 13 BAAAAD!!) | comments: Leave a comment |
| | Because I couldn't resist, I watched the Bachelorette again this week. Shit, it was pretty boring. I think I was doing something else while I was watching it because it was so dull. Well, I was actually just sitting there and watching it, but I was thinking of other stuff in the back of my mind. I liked it when the crazy neighbour called the cops to bust the guys for having a 'wild party', which was really just them yelling and being retarded. Which I suppose is a party. Guaranteed, I will not be watching this again next week. Well...almost guaranteed. ^^;; | comments: Leave a comment |
| Ebert and Roeper had their Worst Movies of the year list today. Ebert had a tie with 'Troy' and 'Alexander', and Roeper picked 'White Chicks'. I don't like epics either, but Ebert does have movies from this year with lower stars. Yeah, I'm just defending Alexander because of the gay sex -_-+. Leave me alone.
At the recommendation of my father (that's right, my father) I checked out Air 1. Honestly, I didn't think this was going to be anything special. The ads looked kind of overly sentimental, and all I thought of it was how interesting that it had a movie coming out with it. So, I watched an episode, with only my father's recommendation to go on, and some very basic info I read. I was very pleased to find the original game OP/ED by Lia were left in. I liked the main character guy, because it's true when someone said that he wasn't your typical H game hero. He had a personality. But about the show, it started off oddly. A girl who makes dinosaur noises came down from the sky on angel wings, and took the main character to her house, where he drunk with her mother. Yeah, I know it sounds odd putting it in a sentence like that. The next day, he went around town and met a bunch of other girls and they were all also crazy in their own right. Roll credits. But, I'm just giving the quick story overview. This was a masterpiece compared to the flaming disaster of Peach Girl. And in the grand scheme of things, this was pretty good. I can't remember a single characters name, but it was pretty good. I can see something tragic happening with the main girl, because she has no sense of the real world. Anyway, I'd be more than happy to watch another episode. This was awesome.
Now, my favourite of the three episode 1's I watched was this - Negima 1. Now, technically, Air was 'better' in terms of everything - Animation, Story, Characters, Potential - yet this had one thing Air did not - the flashing of a yaoi manga across the screen! Haruna, I have engraved your name into my memory, beucase you had yaoi! Haruna is my favourite charcter (no kidding). She part of the librarian club. She has yaoi, so we love her. Now, backing up a bit, about two years, when I first heard of the 'mysterious announcement' made by Ken Akamatsu that he was creating a manga with 30 heroines, I was astounded. I didn't know if he could pull it off. Then I read Love Hina, and I was sure he could do it. I never got around to checking out the manga however, because well, Del Ray edited it, and my scanlations were shit quality. But, I checked out the anime because the label 'Real episode one' intrigued me. Was someone hawking faux Negima 1's? I dunno. But, back to the episode. The opening was not leaving me optimistic. There are about 30 girls in Negima, each one a familiar stereotype (there even appears to be an android...). The opening consisted of the each taking their turn in a bathing suit and bouncing a beach ball. Then they each took a turn kissing their ten-year-old teacher. Whoopie. That has got to be one of the cruddiest openings in recent memory. But the episode itself was a lot of fun. The main girl (who's name I cannot remember) acts a lot like Naru, but less violent...well, not by much (Visually, She's also a dead ringer for Naru, even if she is differently coloured and has her hair in pigtails.). I like how there are no actual pantie shots in the episode, but just the hint of them (by flashing a bear across the screen, signifying bear panties). On that note, the animation isn't too much to look at, with many pans across the classroom with nobody moving. But then, who cares? This was just too much fun to resist. All the heroines, although there are thirty of them, are all full of energy, be they in the episode for a minute or less, or have a more major role. I REALLY liked the way Negi (main male protagonist) was portrayed. At first I thought he was a pretty mature guy. Then he took the attendance book, and wrote 'meanie' across the Naru-girl's face. That just showed to me that he was a typical ten-year-old. I'm looking greatly forward to more of this. We need an episode where Haruna goes to a yaoi store or something. That would be golden. To quote John "Men will like this for all the women, and women with Shouta complexs will love this too." Ha, shouta complex me? No, no way... (Hides discriminating evidence proving otherwise... although I am 16, so it's okay for me to like say... 13 year olds. 10 IS a little young though...)
And on that note, dear fansubbers, we do not need anyone else subbing these two series, or O!MG for that matter. Yes, they are popular. Yes, your IRC channel will be packed. But you know what's more rewarding, and will earn you greater respect, and probably result in a long lasting group that won't break-up after the series chosen is over? Subbing the rest of Sensei no Ojikan for me. Kudo X Suetake forever baby~...I mean earn the respect of the fansubbing community! Pick up where Seichi left off! Yeeeah! ^^;;
Outside of anime, I watched Arrested Development too. It is funny as hell. Michael seems to be getting a stroke of luck, with Joe going to the other company, but we all know that's not going to last. I think joe may have rejoined the company at the end though. Is this the second or third season? Well, it's still going strong. I was a little nervous when the army officer asked Lucille to go 'downtown' and leaned back in his chair. I was watching it with my father, so I was very relived when Lucille broke out into the song 'Downtown', and old showtune of sorts. Still, very funny stuff.
And, since it was on, I watched the return of Family Guy on Fox. It was the episode where the Griffins are on a 24/7 TV station (I've seen it before). It was edited from the version on Teletoon. When Meg is at the African-American neighbour's house, he and his wife have sex while making REALLY nasty noises. It seemed a little inconsistent that one minute she was at that guy's house, and the next Meg scene she was at Quagmire's. Even so, I'm hoping this is the start of a Family Guy comeback, with new episodes. Please? (Sees site) SWEEEEET! Un-cancelled! New Family guy! Yeeees! | comments: Leave a comment |
| Being at my father's house, the Internet downloads at a high speed. So, I had the pleasure of checking out some new anime. Now, I was SO pumped when I found out about the Peach Girl anime production. I visted the site. and the images were pretty reminiscent of Miwa Ueda's artwork, so I was thrilled. So, the opening sequence (sung by Megrock, a.k.a. Gumi, the singer of the first OP of CCS ^_~) was pretty nice. There were several images directly copied from Miwa Ueda's art, and drawn in anime style, they looked lovely. THEN I SAW THE MEN MOVING. Oh, my heart died a little inside. Toji looks like and old man, and Kiley looks like an ugly man. Okay, I admit, I nearly fainted when Kiley winked at Momo. Even if he was an ugly Kiley, he was Kiley, one of the sexiest men to ever grace manga pages. Not so much the TV screen though. Kiley winking was the highlight of the show. Aside from the butt-ugly male character designs, the seiyuu sucked. (Momo sounds too calm/not Momo-ish at all! And everyone else just squeaks by with horrendously forgettable/out of character performances.) And the pacing of the show was just horrendous. Reading the manga, you can determine how well the story paces itself. But the TV production just seemed to be balsting in whatever they could in 25 minutes. I thought they were going to get through the whole first volume (but they didn't)! So, the end result feels like a half-assed attempt at a wonderful manga. I was kind of upset that the Taiwanese live-action version wasn't very true to the original, but it was a helluva a lot better than this anime, which seems to be acting as an empty shell for the original manga. Not one single different thing was done differently. Even the anime-style images of Miwa Ueda's original artwork seemed lifeless, just trying to imitate the successful manga. My god, this was so blazingly awful. I think I'll only watch episodes once they get past volume two of the manga, because I haven't read volume three yet.
Needing something that guaranteed goodness, I watched Kannaduki no Miko 4. Himeko went on a date, and it was painful to watch Chikane send her off happily. My goddess, Chikane is really becoming one of my favourite anime characters. It ended with a cliff hanger, so I need more. | comments: Leave a comment |
| | I'm happy to report Will and Grace had a 'Will and Vince' situation today. However, I am not happy to report that the situation was Will and Vince breaking up. This episode seemed like complete filler to me, except for that last three minute when those two broke up. Man, they just wanted to not have any gay couples anymore. Shit, I want more QAF. I miss you more each day Brian. | comments: Leave a comment |
| We always watch clips in every Media Studies class I have (at least during this movie unit), but today was noteworthy. We watched a clip from Spirted Away (Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi). Sensei had asked me to bring it in earlier, but we didn't watch it. Someone else brought it in, and we watched the clip where Chihiro is reminiscing about her parents and takes a bite of the medicine that cures Haku. That clip ended, and after it was when No Face eats the frogman and offers him lots of gold if he wakes everyone up and gives him a bath. We cut it off where everyone is begging him to take his or her food. Where to start...there were SO MANY RUDE COMMENTS! 'Is this a Japanese Cartoon?' 'This is stupid' 'What the fuck is this shit?' Arrrg! This is (one of) the best movie ever, and these fucking children in my class are being hicks about it! Arrrg! Now, I expected as much, seeing where I live (The hillbilly capital of the world. I've only recently emigrated here. It hasn't gotten me...yet.), so the other thing I have to bitch about is the dub. The evil dub. Okay, I first watched Spirted Away dubbed at the theatre. I didn't have a choice. But when I got it on DVD, after watching it dubbed again with my illiterate (little) sisters, I had the pleasure of hearing the original language track. I felt the dub and the sub were two complete different movies. The dub was more reminiscent of and action/adventure story, whereas the sub was a shoujo/more sentimental story. For example, at the end, when Chihiro looks back at the tunnel for a final time, I was thinking two completely different things at that time:
Dub - "And she'll never forget her friends she made..."
Sub - "She has to leave them because she's a grown woman now..."
See what I mean. Both movies had completely different messages. You can't trust dubs, kids. From that moment, I vowed I would never trust Disney again, and NEVER watch the dub. Well, today I was reminded of why I made that vow. Now, this part sounds psychotic, but I WAS WEEPING INSIDE WHENEVER CHIHIRO SPOKE. Oh my God, I wanted to go through the screen and rip that little girl's voice box out. Or at least give her a good talking to about ruining art. Whichever. I completely understand why some Japanese people were suing Disney for poor treatment of their beloved movie.
Against my better judgment, I watched Maury again today. Today was 'I used to be a dork, but now I'm a stripper!' day. It was a piece of cheese. Trash TV is like a drug, I swear it. It is insane how much I depend on watching it. It really lets you turn your brain off.
To celebrate getting a computer in my room, I watched Genshiken 5 on the said computer. This is a very funny anime. There are not a lot of small quick jokes, but rather the building of a situation that gets more and more hilarious. Every episode so far, I think I've laughed about half way through really, really hard, because there was just a final joke that broke the camels back, if you will. In this episode, I think it was when...I can't remember when ^^;;. I'll make a mental note to remember for my next episode. I did like 'Otaple' however. Makes me want a boyfriend so I can run around yelling 'we're otaple'! | comments: Leave a comment |
| Maury was trashy today, trashy even for Maury. It was 'Hidden Cameras are Everywhere Naked Women Are!' day, or something like that. I watched the last half. I've watched Maury's like that before, but this one was baaaad. Every reenactment they had, there was a sexy lady taking off her top. In the reencatments, even if the guest wasn't sexy, their replacement was (40 year old mom = 20 year old hot girl). Usually, they just suggest stripping, but this time there were sexy ladies taking off their tops right in front of the camera. Their breasts were censored, of course, but still. It was so exploitative. I always like to laugh at the prostitute catcher guy though. He's hilarious, because he has no life whatsoever, and shows pretty ridiculaous clips of people getting in on in really funny places. (Man picks woman off the church steps, gets a 'quickie', drops her back off...although that may not have been the prostitute guy >_<.). It was also funny when they ahd the 'warning signs that you landlord is spying on you', beucase there were no actual tips, and a lot fo naked woman...even a woman and a man in the forepalying stages of sex! Some 13 year old boys were happy when they saw that...because of this show, I'm never wearing a skirt in a convience store, or if I do, I'm being very careful.
The finale of The Biggest Loser was on tonight. I watched most all of that. Ryan won, big surprise (sarcasm). NBC is having a reunion show where one of the previously kicked out former fat-asses will win $10 000. I shouldn't be surprised this is dragging out for another week, but I am. I have to stop watching this shit. But I only have one more episode...and who will win? Whose lost the most weight...Maurice? I have to watch. Curse reality TV.
After that was the last half of The Amazing Race. I was working on my poster for school, but I was still listening. It was a non-elimination leg. Shit, this season sucks, but I just want to keep watching till that bloody sexist bastard and his wife get kicked out.
After, my mother turned to a movie called Indecent Proposal. Demi Moore and her husband in the movie had sex almost the entire half-hour I was writing my letter to grandma. No wonder my mother liked it. The movie was part of a 'Passion Week' the station was running, so I'll have to make a note not to watch any movies on Toronto One this week... | comments: Leave a comment |

Because I couldn't resist, I watched all two hours of The Bachelorette premiere. I really meant to leave after the first hour, but I just couldn’t! Reality TV is SO addicting, I swear...I'm going to go nuts without more anime, seriously. But I just had to see who fainted. I really thought it would be the drunk guy. And I may watch more, because somebody is going to get arrested. | comments: Leave a comment |
